Expedition Grades Revision

Hello!

If you are not satisfied with your effort and your grade on an assignment from Week 1 of this expedition, then you are able to revise your work and work towards earning and demonstrating mastery to the learning targets.

Please see me during 8th grade lunch or during homework time during the extended day program.

Thank you,

Mr. Coir

Social Studies Assignments in November

Hello!

With our efforts turning towards our Progress/Dilemma Expedition, there are several exclusive SS assignments that many students owe.  These are posted in eSchool, so if you do not have the handout you can click on the folder and print it out to be completed.

Please use CREW eSchool checks for this way to self-advocate for your grades!

Thank you,

Mr. Coir

The Primacy of Self-Discovery- Video 5

Based off of EL Education's design principles, this year's overnights at ELMS guide students through understanding themselves through relationships with other people, self-reflection, and experiences.  The series of video clips are the students reflecting after the two day journey and what they learned about themselves.

Challenging Consensus History with New Findings

Updated History from an old professor of mine!

8th Grade Weekly Debate Question

Hello 8th graders!

I loved our discussion last week on the limits and potential of the Reconstruction era amendments! As a recap, we mentioned the dilemmas of who the government excluded from those amendments while fighting to promote equality for newly freed African Americans.  Additionally. you rightly pointed back to the promises of the Declaration of Independence.

  • What arguments are being made today using the 14th Amendment?
  • How is the Declaration of Independence being used in the 21st century to argue for equal rights for all Americans?
Bring me your thoughts for extra credit!  This is social studies; seeking multiple points of view and exploring gaps in instruction!  This is an opportunity for action!

Sincerely,

Mr. Coir
