Social Studies Assignments in November
Hello!
With our efforts turning towards our Progress/Dilemma Expedition, there are several exclusive SS assignments that many students owe. These are posted in eSchool, so if you do not have the handout you can click on the folder and print it out to be completed.
Please use CREW eSchool checks for this way to self-advocate for your grades!
Thank you,
Mr. Coir

Mr. Dadhi Dahal Expert for 8th Grade Expedition
On November 10, 2015 Mr. Dahal, who is a Nationality Worker in the Syracuse City School District's English as a New Langauge Department, came to provide background information on Bhutan and the refugee crisis that began in the 1960s affecting the 120,000 Bhutanese refugees here in the United States. This primary source information will help provide evidence to the students as they determine To What Extent is America the Land of Opportunity? The expedition will be on December 10, 2015 at Clary Middle School.

8th Grade Weekly Debate Question
Hello 8th graders!
I loved our discussion last week on the limits and potential of the Reconstruction era amendments! As a recap, we mentioned the dilemmas of who the government excluded from those amendments while fighting to promote equality for newly freed African Americans. Additionally. you rightly pointed back to the promises of the Declaration of Independence.

Additionally. you rightly pointed back to the promises of the Declaration of Independence.
- What arguments are being made today using the 14th Amendment?
- How is the Declaration of Independence being used in the 21st century to argue for equal rights for all Americans?
Bring me your thoughts for extra credit! This is social studies; seeking multiple points of view and exploring gaps in instruction! This is an opportunity for action!
Sincerely,
Mr. Coir
